Surf inaugurates it's first splat park
09/10/2008 :
Surf Excel Pakistan, in collaboration with Idaara-e-Taleem-o-Aagahi (ITA), has taken another step towards helping Pakistani children realise their right to play by setting up 'Splat Playgrounds' across the nation, starting with Lahore, and later extending it to Islamabad and Karachi.
Surf Excel urges Pakistani families to persuade children to play outdoors at parks –The thought behind Surf Excel's current campaign 'Harr Bacchey Ko Haq Hai Khelne Ka' (Every Child Has The Right to Play) is based on researches that show that children experience multiple forms of learning when they go out to parks and use all five senses while interacting with nature and other children. Splat Playgrounds are a small part of Surf's efforts, which also include a booklet titled, 'Every Child Has the Right to Explore' co-produced with WWF, discussing ten simple and educational games a child can play in parks using the surroundings and creative imagination.
The Splat Playgrounds initiative is a multi-team effort, involving key parks authorities such as the Pakistan Horticulture Authority (PHA, Lahore), MTA (Pindi) and Rafi Peer Events, who have designed & constructed the Playgrounds. The inaugural park is Ideal Park in Township, Lahore. Other parks to follow: Jinnah Park (Township, Lahore), Sarajia Park & Quaid-e-Azam Park (Pindi) and others.
