The award was announced by Joint Committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan (ICAP) and Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Pakistan (ICMAP).
It is a matter of great honour for the company that Unilever Pakistan Limited (UPL) not only secured first position in the category, but was also awarded first position amongst all two hundred and eight contesting companies.
In the award ceremony, the announcement of the award for Unilever was made with the caption ‘Jewel in the crown’, that truly reflects the outstanding quality of the company’s annual report. Speaking on the occasion UPL’s Finance Director, Peter Harvey appreciated the excellent effort of his finance team and best co-ordination from the company’s external auditors for this outstanding achievement.
Tariq Iqbal Khan, Chairman and MD National Investment Trust (NIT) Ltd, awarded the shields and certificates to the winners. Imran Afzal - President ICAP, Sher Afgan Malik - President ICMAP, Muhammad Rafi - Chairman Joint Committee of ICAP and ICMAP and Abdul Rahim Suriya - Chairman Joint Evaluation Committee were also present on the occasion.
These awards recognise the best annual reports of the companies in terms of accuracy, transparency, usefulness and speed of financial and other disclosures made for all stakeholders in company’s Annual Report.
Companies are judged in two broad categories ‘Financial’ and ‘Non-Financial’. Within non-financial there are further categories on the basis of sectors in which different companies operate. Awards are given to top five companies in all categories and for overall Best Corporate Report chosen from all categories.
For Unilever Pakistan Limited, these awards are an acknowledgment of the dedicated efforts of Group Financial Reporting team for bringing together the statutory disclosures and other voluntary disclosures into a report that truly depicts company’s core value of ‘Impeccable Integrity’ and is a very useful source of information for all stakeholders.
